The preamble to the U.S. Constitution provides the namesake for Faith Baptist Church’s God & Country ministry:

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Our founding fathers believed that true liberty comes from God, not government.  The U.S. Constitution was established to define and limit the role of government to protecting our rights and liberties.

While the Blessings of Liberty are specifically protected in the U.S., they are for anyone who will trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour.  The Lord Jesus Christ came to earth to liberate all men from the power of sin and the Holy Bible describes that liberty in many places:

  • Lev. 25:10 [etched on the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA], “. . . proclaim liberty throughout all the land. . .
  • Isa. 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
  • 2 Cor. 3:17, “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
  • Gal. 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
